Shipping

How fast do orders ship? In one business day. Orders placed before noon PT Monday to Friday leave our Los Angeles warehouse the same day.

When is shipping free? Any order with two or more hats ships free within the US. A single hat is a flat rate calculated at checkout.

Do you ship internationally? Yes. Duties and import taxes are calculated by your country and are the customer's responsibility.

Where is my order? Tracking goes out by email as soon as the label is created. If it has not moved in 48 hours, email us and we will chase the carrier.

Returns and exchanges

What is the return window? Seven days from delivery, unworn, in original packaging.

What if it arrives damaged or defective? Always covered, and we pay return shipping. Send a photo and we will replace it.

Can I exchange for a different hat? Yes, within the same seven days. Every hat is the same price, so there is never a difference to pay.

Fit and sizing

What size is it? One size. Adjustable strapback, 21–24 inches / 53–61 cm, which fits about 95% of adult heads.

Will it fit over locs, braids or a lot of volume? Usually yes — the crown is mid-depth and structured, and the strap adjusts continuously rather than in snap steps. The fit guide answers this style by style.

Is it unisex? Yes. Same hat, same size, everybody.

Care and cleaning

How do I clean it? Spot clean only. Cool water, a little mild soap, a soft cloth, working from the outside of the mark inward. Reshape the crown while damp and air dry away from direct sun.

Can I put it in the washing machine? No — and not the dishwasher either, whatever the internet says. Both will collapse the structured crown and can distort the visor.

How do I care for the satin lining? It needs almost nothing. If it needs freshening, wipe with a barely damp cloth and let it air dry fully before wearing. Do not iron it.

Will the waterproof shell stay waterproof? The coating on the black signature cap holds through normal wear and spot cleaning. Heavy machine washing will strip it.

How should I store it? Right side up, crown supported, not squashed under anything. Storing it upside down on the brim distorts the curve.

Satin

Is the whole hat lined, or just the band? The whole crown — all six panels plus the sweatband. Plenty of hats sold as satin-lined only line the band.

Is it real satin, or something that just looks like it? It is a smooth-faced satin lining, the same family of fabric used in satin pillowcases and durags. Worth knowing the difference: sateen is a cotton weave that looks similar and behaves like cotton, which is exactly what you are trying to get away from.

Does it actually do anything? Satin has almost no surface texture, so hair slides across it instead of catching, and it does not absorb moisture out of the hair. That is the whole mechanism.

Does it work on straight hair too? Yes. Friction affects every texture; it just costs some more than others.

Does the satin make the hat hotter? No. Satin is thin and does not insulate the way a cotton sweatband does. Most people find it runs cooler because sweat is not being held against the head.

Is this a safe gift if I do not know their size? Yes — one size, adjustable, fits about 95% of adult heads. It is one of the few pieces of clothing you can buy someone without asking.

Can you include a note? Yes, free. Add it at checkout and we will write it on a card, with no prices anywhere in the package.
